From Lastiver (Northern Armenia) to Artsakh, 8 days

Destinations: Goshavank Monastery and Lake Gosh, Selim caravansary, Smbataberd fortress, Spitakavor Monastery, Zorats Karer (aka «Armenian Stonehenge»), Tatev Monastery, Satani Kamurj («Devil’s Bridge»), Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh)

Itinerary

Day 1

  • Setting off from Yerevan to Dsegh village, Lori region
  • Enjoying trip through Atan-Yenokavan route with marvelous woodland scenery to Nzhara and Kochakar green lands (“yaylas”) situated on 1500 meters above the sea level
  • Walking tour to Lastiver*. The trip (3 km) is estimated to take 20-30 minutes and requires moderate level of fitness

    * Lastiver is located in picturesque, thick forest on the bank of river Khachaghbyur on 1200 metres above the sea level. The river has many gorgeous waterfalls and is famous for its delicious fish called Karmrakhayt (redeye). You will find yourself reveling in the stunning beauty of the scenery with small and large natural caves inside impressive high rocks rising from both banks of the river. Lastiver has all the conditions to please lovers of wild and active tourism.

  • Dinner (barbeque variety, potatoes baked in ashes, fruits, juices, home-made vodka, wine, etc.) at Lastiver area
  • Overnight stay at Lastiver area in caves or in comfortable tents and sleeping bags provided by the travel agency

Day 2

Goshavanq Monastery
  • Breakfast
  • Walking back to Kochakar
  • Setting off to Goshavank Monastery complex (12th century) through Yenokavan-Idjevan-Dilijan route
  • Setting off to beautiful mountainous lake Gosh located in the National Park of Dilijan, 2, 5 km far from Gosh region. According to specialists the lake is more than 2000 years old.
  • Leisure time on the lake shore
  • Lunch: barbeque variety, vegetables, fruits, juices, home-made vodka, wine, etc.
  • Overnight stay on the lake shore in comfortable tents and sleeping bags provided by the travel agency

Day 3

  • Breakfast
  • Setting off to Vayots Dzor region by Martuni-Yeghegnadzor way (through Selim Pass)
  • Visiting the Selim caravansary

    * The Selim Caravansary was built along the Selim Pass in 1332 for accommodating weary travelers and their animals crossing the Selim (Sulema) Mountains. It is the best preserved caravansary in the country.

  • Sightseeing at Smbataberd Fortress
  • Lunch
  • Sightseeing at Spitakavor («White») Monastery
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay in Yeghegnadzor (hotel or boarding house)

Day 4

  • Breakfast
  • Setting off to Zorats Karer («Armenian Stonehendge»), Syunik region
  • Sightseeing at the lake Harzhis
  • Trip to Tatev Monastery (9th century)
  • Sightseeing at “Satani Kamurj” (Devil’s Bridge)
  • Lunch at Tatev Monastery area
  • Setting off to the old capital city of Karabakh — Shushi
  • Dinner in Shushi
  • Overnight stay in Shushi

Day 5

  • Breakfast
  • City tour in Shushi
  • Visiting Ghazanchetsots Cathedral, Shushi Fortress, Hunot canyon
  • Lunch in Shushi
  • Visiting historical Dizak (Armenian medieval principality), Hadrut region (Southern Karabakh)
  • Setting off to“Nor Kyank” (New Life) aquapark (Togh village ravine, Hadrut region)
  • Dinner at aquapark area (Armenian, Caucasian and European cuisine) Overnight stay in comfortable tents and sleeping bags provided by the travel agency at a specially fenced area called “Partez” designed for a relaxing and enjoyable rest in the aquapark

Day 6

  • Breakfast
  • Visiting Gtchavank Monastery (12th century) situated on 1130 metres above the sea level, Halevor Bridge and Abunts Gyol (Lake)
  • Returning to aquapark
  • Supper at aquapark area
  • Overnight stay in comfortable tents and sleeping bags provided by the travel agency at a specially fenced area called “Partez” designed for a relaxing and enjoyable rest in the aqua park

Day 7

  • Breakfast
  • Setting off to Gandzasar Monastery complex (Martakert region)
  • Lunch in a restaurant
  • Setting off to Jermajur spring* located in Tartar river canyon, Karvachar region

    * Mets («Big») Jermajur — warm mineral spring similar by its features to Jermuk (Armenia) and Karlov Var (Czech Republic) springs — located in the ravine of the river Tartar.

  • Overnight stay in comfortable tents and sleeping bags provided by the travel agency at Jermajur territory

Day 8

  • Setting off to Yerevan through Sodk-Vardenis-Yerevan route.

Notes: “Aspar Tour’’ provides everything needed for the trip, including drinking water, hot drinks, soft drinks, fruits — fresh and dried. Outdoor dinner and/or supper can be arranged.
